Donor Card
The Irish Donor Network, in collaboration with the Irish Kidney Association and the Department of Health and Children, promote, print and distribute the 'Gift of Life' donor card. This newly designed card portrays the rising dawn over a green landscape. Carrying the card indicates that you are supporting new life by demonstrating your intention of donating organs and tissue for the purpose of transplantation after your death.
In signing the Donor Card you indicate your intentions to be a donor. The final decision will always be that of your family/next of kin who have to consent to the procedure. This decision is much easier if your family/next of kin understand what your wishes are.
The most important aspect of donation is that each of us makes an informed decision. It is important that we discuss it with our families/next of kin so that our wishes are known. The most unfortunate situation is that people go through life without making the decision.
The Irish Donor Network is made up of associations and individuals directly concerned with transplanation. It is comprised of families whose loved ones have donated as well as recipients and professionals. Those involved are:

- The Cystic Fibrosis Association
- The Irish Heart and Lung Transplant Association
- The Eye and Bone Banks
- Tranplant co-ordinators in Beamont and St.Vincent's Hospitals
- The Liver Transplant Unit - St.Vincent's Hospital
'Gift of Life' Donor Cards are available at pharmacies, hospitals and from:
